In the area of environmental diseases, the Group is a partner of the EXIMIOUS project. This project is part of the European Human Exposome Network and brings together 15 partner organizations from 7 European countries. Regarding lung transplant, we are going to study the role of the viral footprint in lung transplant patients and the role of cell free DNA. In respiratory sleep-disorders, our research focuses on the clinical consequences and diagnostic challenges of respiratory sleep-disorders and ventilation disorders. Regarding COPD, the group will coordinate a multicenter project to know the effectiveness of palliative cures in the final phases of the disease, and a project for the study of pathogenesis of COPD using molecular and computational biology techniques. The group is part of the Catalonian Referral Unit for Cystic Fibrosis, which maintains the Spanish registry of bronchiectasis and patients with a1-antitrypsin deficit.
