Diagnostic Nanotools develops new diagnostic tools. In 2021, we worked in the context of projects 2019PROD00086 and DTS20/00093, funded by AGAUR and ISCIII, to develop a synthetic reagent to replace erythrocytes in classica haemagglutination assays used worldwide to track the annual flu epidemics. This product detects several influenza virus types and could be mass produced for global distribution. Over 2022, with the support of a Consolidate project granted by La Caixa Foundation, we envision technology transfer to a company. Besides, we produced point-of-care diagnostic devices for the fast, simple and quantitative detection of malaria. Among others, we showed that assay automation using paper devices provides efficient biomarker detection with little user intervention. Two projects just granted (AC21_2/00021 EuroNanoMedand PID2020-118904RB-C22 RETOS) will allow us to improve the system and apply it also to respiratory infections.
