In 2021, the REFiT-BCN group published a total of 16 articles stemming from its 3 lines of research: frailty and cognitive decline; rehabilitation and functional recovery; and transitional care models and readmissions. Publications also reflected initial findings from its studies on the effects of COVID-19 in frail populations.
Two key projects were completed: IMAGINE, an RCT on motivational interviews for improving stroke patient adherence to rehabilitation; and +AGIL, a pragmatic integrated care intervention featuring digital tools to promote physical activity in older adults, relevant in light of the pandemic situation. Ongoing projects included RECOGNISED, funded by the European Commission, and FRONT STAGE, funded by the Carlos III Health Institute and by the Catalan Board of Physical Therapists. Finally, new competitive funding was obtained from the Spanish Cancer Society (AECC) for the PROFIT Study and from the Board of Pharmacists of Barcelona (COFB) for the AMIDA study.
