In 2021, we have further developed the projects in our three research lines: New Technologies and Regenerative Medicine in Maxillofacial Surgery, Oncology in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentofacial Deformities, Reconstructive Surgery and Microsurgery. We have been working on the development of a Personalized Surgery Service in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (a Project that has been awarded FEDER funds) and on intra-operative navigation to obtain surgical margins in head and neck oncology.
We have also been working on the early diagnosis of oral pre-malignant disorders (OPMDs) from several points of view (participation in a pan-European collaboration, development of observational trials, creation of a follow-up system for patients with OPMDs) and on the creation of a benchmark Unit for the treatment of salivary gland tumours.
Besides, we have collaborated in several clinical trials in collaboration with the Vall d'Hebron Institut d'Oncologia (VHIO).
